Last weekend Kate and I packed up the ol’ Subaru and headed east towards CDA for a two day wedding planning bonanza! We left the gray sky of Seattle for the gray sky of Spokane! The entire 311 mile drive had some form of precipitation. Despite this, the pass conditions were good so I took that win and stuffed it right into my pocket.
Friday evening Kate and I met up and ate pizza with an old friend of mine. By the time I left, I had another groomsman on board. Six down, three to go!
While we ate pizza, our parents went out for a nice dinner to talk about us behind our backs. It’s probably for the best that we weren’t privileged to which stories were swapped, but it was clear everyone had a great time! Shout out to Kate’s sister, Jessica, for hooking us up with a couple of awesome rooms at the CDA resort!
Wedding Caterer, Wedding Photos & More!
Saturday was a bit more structured. We were up bright and early for a family breakfast (thanks Jay!) and then hit the road to meet up with our lovely coordinator, Josi, at Riverside Place. We made her take us on another walk through with the gang. She’s a good sport. I even remembered to borrow Dave’s tape measure so I could measure the stage to build a cool thing. More on that later.
Afterwards, Kate and I took off on foot to meet up with Erica and Bob from Jacobs Photography. We talked pictures and car audio. No seriously, Bob also sports an MECP certification badge, and there’s a strong chance we’ve got mutual friends…
“It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears…”
After hitting it off with that lovely couple, we headed back to Riverside Place to taste some amazing food from London’s Catering. She didn’t even bat an eye when we told her we would be rolling seven deep. Caesar Salad – bomb. Chicken – bomb. Penne Pasta – bomb. Pink lemonade – bomb. If digital marketing doesn’t work out for me, I think food critic would be a natural transition.
Not only was London’s food fantastic, she took the time to talk needs/wants/goals and helped iron out some day-of details. Anyone in our shoes can tell you how far “peace of mind” goes when it comes to wedding planning. There’s no doubt that Josi and London will have 90% of that day covered.
Once our stomachs were full of amazing food (again), we took off to our final meeting of the day. Unfortunately, we were as excited for another meeting as they were prepared. Despite this, we wanted to make sure we had a good idea of what else was out there before signing off on big ticket wedding items like a photographer and caterer. Did I mention London’s food was amazing?
Oh, while I’ve got your attention – we’ve got hotel information for the wedding up on the site!
